For those who are not aware who juan gabriel is and are wondering why he’s all over your social networks right now, he was a mexican singer and one of the most admired latino song-writers of his time but besides that he was an emblematic queer figure in a hyper-macho culture that sadly hasn’t allowed so many queer people to achieve the levels of recognition this man achieved, even today our countries are starving of queer figures, independently if you liked his music or not you can’t deny he defied gender roles and forced people to start a conversation they just didn’t want to engage in, despite being forced for many years to don’t admit publicly his orientation, he never stop showcasing his identity through his songs, concerts, outfits and witty statements, always a controversial individual and definitely not a saint but always advocated for the gay community among other vulnerable communities that helped him during his early years,  he died today at the age of 66.
